Vendi machine

Our New Vendi Vending Machine

We’re all in love with this new Vendi machine which HR got for us a couple of months ago. The last machine we had was terrible, it wouldn’t accept most of the notes or coins you tried to put into it. It also wasn’t as shiny! The Vendi machine has these little RFID cards which you load money onto, much more convinient than using coins or cash. When you buy something they send you this little SMS and whatsapp message with your purchase details and the remaining card balance. We think it’s pretty cool!

HP-AIO Printers

Printers; Still the World’s Most Disobedient Robots

It’s 2017 and no matter which brand of printer you buy, you will eventually want to take a baseball bat (#OfficeSpace) to it. Probably more than once. I can’t remember the last time I used a printer for an extended period of time and it didn’t crap out on me. I currently have a pretty decent HP AIO (All-in-one) at home and the same model at the office. They’re both wireless enabled as well as connected to iMac’s through USB. I’ve had to reinstall the drivers for both of them a multitude of times. If we can build an airplane...

Digital marketing and model rockets

Digital Marketing is Like Launching Model Rockets

When I was nine years old my father bought me a model rocket, complete with solid rocket propellant engines, it was awesome! Building the rocket was pretty straightforward, you read the manual and put things together and hey presto you had a rocket. Launching it was simple as well, you would wire up a little battery operated ignition panel, push the button and away the rocket went; the manual told you how high the rocket would go (Depending on atmospheric conditions). Figuring out where the rocket was going to land, that was another task altogether. You accounted for the angle...

OPKC +SHRA Playlist

It’s been a while since it’s rained here in Karachi. Here are some of the rainy songs I’ve been listening to over this weekend.

NVIDIA and Ubuntu Don’t Play Nice

I’ve spent the last week setting up some new (to me) HP Z210 Workstations with Ubuntu and Debian. The machines themselves are in pretty good condition, I got lucky with the used units which were sent to me – the graphics card is another story. NVIDIA graphics cards have a sordid history of doing nothing but create frustration for the open source world. They have never openly supported most of the Linux distributions I’ve used and always create some sort of a problem. These HP workstations came with NVIDIA Quadro FX380 cards which kept freezing the boot after installation. If...

The Death of Organic Reach and the Rise of the Newsfeed

Facebook is a big place; it has over a billion users worldwide and out of those billion users 20 million are in Pakistan. Over half of Pakistan’s Internet population uses Facebook, logging in multiple times a day from different devices, and if you’re anything like me you just stay logged in all the time.   None of this is news to marketers, we know this is one of the places we need to be and without question. However “What do we do to market our brands effectively?” is something that changes from time to time as the platform evolves. Facebook...
